Landcare Tasmania

Who Is Landcare Tasmania?

WE WORK TO REPRESENT, SUPPORT, STRENGTHEN AND GROW COMMUNITY LANDCARE.
Our Vision Is Simple But Ambitious – For All The Land & Coasts To Be Cared For By The Community. It’s About Empowering People To Make A Difference.

Community Landcare is a unique movement in which individuals and groups work together to improve the health of our natural and working landscapes. Landcare’s approach to environment and sustainability issues is ‘bottom up’, with the community taking ownership of the problem and being actively involved in the solutions.

We are the peak body that works to represent, support, strengthen and grow Tasmania's Landcare movement. We have over 200 members groups plus individuals who work on projects in their area to improve the health of our natural and working environments. The work of our members includes eradicating invasive weeds, revegetating bushland, managing farms to improve sustainability, controlling erosion, cleaning up beaches and much more.

The two talk topics will be:

1. What is Landcare Tasmania!
   How to be a Landcarer,
How to get involved in existing projects and Landcaring in Tasmania
How to start a new Landcare Tas group or project
What resources do you get access to as a Landcare member?

2. Citizen science: how you can make a difference on a global scale in your own back yard!
What monitoring and logging observations in your day to day life can mean for scientists studying and modeling complex    ecosystems and climate patterns globally.
