Since forming in 2002, Taiko Drum has performed at many community, corporate and festival events. The group reached the semi finals of Australia’s Got Talent in 2011, appearing at the Falls Festival, Marion Bay in 2011 and 2012 and travelling to Cowra, NSW to perform at the Sakura Matsuri Festival in 2012 and 2013. Recently Taiko Drum has been strengthening its ties to Japan with a group of members traveling to Japan in 2013 and 2015 to attend workshops and perform with local taiko groups. In 2015 Taiko Drum performed at the Cygnet Folk Festival and also hosted the Island Taiko Gathering at Bruny Island with highly regarded Japanese musicians Makoto Sekine and Etsuko Sakai.
